Get support from friends
Quitting is easier when you’re not alone. Friends can help you stay motivated when cravings arrive, and they can help you change your surroundings if you’re feeling pressure to vape.
“I don't think people know what is in a vape to know how bad it is. I worry for my friends who do it.”
How to ask for help
Asking for help can feel difficult. Here are some ways you can ask friends for their support:
Be honest
Tell your friends you’re trying to quit vaping, and ask them to help.
Tell them what helps
Your friends will find it easier to support you if they know what helps, even if that’s just checking in with you now and then. You could tell them what you think your particular triggers are, and ask them to distract you when a craving arrives.
If they vape, ask them not to offer you one. A good friend will understand and not pressure you.
Make it fun
Quitting nicotine can get stressful, so look for ways to make it a bit more fun along the way. That could be a challenge with friends, or saving up money to treat yourself to something you’ve wanted for a while.
